If you want to study in state-fundedor non-funded places at universities or colleges (both public and private), you need to pass these exams:
the Lithuanian Language and Literature state exam;
the Mathematics state exam (except for arts study programmes);
one state exam of your choice.
The average of these exam results, rounded to a whole number, must be at least:
50 if you are applying to a university;
41 if you are applying to a college.
You also need an average of your five best yearly grades. This average, rounded to a whole number, must be at least:
7 if you are applying to a university;
6 if you are applying to a college.
Application to study
Have you passed your exams and received your school-leaving certificate? Then fill in an online application to a higher education institution throughLAMA BPO. If you don’t get into your preferred place the first time, remember that you can take part in the second and third admission rounds. In many institutions, you can also sign your study agreement online.
Admission to higher education institutions in Lithuania is competitive. Whether you are accepted to a university or college depends on your admission score.
When filling in your application, don’t forget to add documents that may give you extra points. Additional points are given:
to winners of certain national and international Olympiads;
to graduates of vocational schools who finished with honours or have one year of work experience;
to students whose final project is graded at least 9;
to those who have completed basic military training or compulsory military service;
to those who have taken part in international or national youth volunteering for at least 3 months, or youth voluntary service for at least 6 months (this is adjusted each year, so follow the latest information).
If you finished school abroad:
You can apply in the same way as everyone else through the general admission process. You will need to:

pass a Lithuanian language test (if your studies will be in Lithuanian and you cannot prove your language skills with documents). submit your application online;
pass entrance exams (if they are required for your chosen study programmes).
If you have an International Baccalaureate or European Baccalaureate diploma, you do not need to apply for recognition, as it is accepted the same as a Lithuanian school-leaving certificate.
If you want to apply for a state-funded study place, you must:
be a citizen of Lithuania, another EU country, or a country in the European Economic Area, or a family member of such a person;
or have a permanent residence permit in Lithuania (if you are from a non-EU/EEA country or are stateless);
or be a Lithuanian living abroad.
Foreign citizens and stateless persons who do not meet these requirements can still be admitted, but they will have to pay for their studies.
