Young people (students) must first apply to the Study Fund for funding. Once the Foundation approves the loan application, the next step is to go to the bank to sign the financing agreement itself. For student loans with a state guarantee, the latest information is available on the website of the State Fund for Studies: state-supported loans – State Fund for Studies (lrv.lt).
Students can borrow from banks on preferential terms with a state guarantee.

The Foundation publishes the start date for the autumn semester of the granting of State-assisted loans and the start and end dates for the submission of student applications on the Foundation’s website.
The start of the provision of state-supported loans in the spring semester shall be published no later than 25 working days after the entry into force of the Resolution of the Government of the Republic of Lithuania on the allocation of state budget appropriations by programmes for the respective year.

Loans are granted to foreign Lithuanians, citizens of European Union and European Economic Area countries, and permanent residents of Lithuania.
In order to obtain a state-supported loan, a student must fill in and submit an application form on the Fund’s website.
The application form can be filled in by logging in through the information system IS PASKOLA of the State Study Fund, as well as through the Elektroninių valdžios vartų tinklalapį.
To qualify for a subsidised housing loan, families or individuals must first apply to the municipality where they have declared their place of residence, submit a certificate stating that they qualify for the subsidy and submit a housing loan application.
