On 4 October 2022, the Commission and the High Representative announced the Youth Action Plan (2022–2027), which aims to involve young people around the world in the EU’s external actions. On 28 November 2022, the Council adopted conclusionsaimed at supporting the participation of young people worldwide in policy-making by promoting youth engagement and activity in international forunms and by providing the necessary resources, with a particular focus on the protection, empowerment, health, and mobility of young activists.
INITIATIVES AND OPPORTUNITIES
The Youth Guarantee initiative, created in 2013, is a programme that ensures that young people receive a good-quality offer of employment, continued education, an apprenticeship, or a traineeship within four months of becoming unemployed or leaving formal education.
European Youth Portalis a website designed to help young people across Europe discover the many opportunities the EU offers in areas of interest to them, including volunteering, work, study, culture, creativity, and more.
The „Youth4Regions“ competition is intended for young journalists interested in EU regional policy. The winners can take part in training on topics important for Europe, learn from experienced journalists, and join press trips to Member States organised by the Commission.
To promote active citizenship and involve young people in its activities, in 2014 the Parliament launched the European Youth Event (EYE), which takes place every two years in Strasbourg. In addition, the Youth hub website was created together with “Ideas for Youth”, where young people are invited to share their ideas about the EU; some of these are passed on to Members of the European Parliament and policy-makers.
