“LT Big Brother is a voluntary professional mentoring programme for Lithuanians around the world. Its aim is to bring together in tandem and through informal personal interaction transfer the knowledge and experience of established Lithuanian professionals (“Big Brothers/Sisters”) to young people who are still climbing the career ladder or changing careers (“Small Brothers/Sisters”) in different regions of the world.
WHO IS IT FOR?
Final year students, young professionals, career changers living in Lithuania or abroad.
WHEN? HOW? WHERE?
The application process starts in March on the LT Big Brother website. The project starts in May and runs until December. Auditions take place once a year.
Mentors are divided into eight regional groups based on where they currently live and work: the UK, the USA, Benelux, Scandinavia, Lithuania, Ireland, Germany and the Global Region, which covers the rest of the world.
Students and young professionals send cover letters and CVs by the deadline and select up to two preferred mentors in order of preference from the lists on the website. Prospective participants can choose mentors from any region.
Unpaid mentoring for students at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Lithuania and diplomatic missions.
The objectives of unpaid mentoring are to facilitate the sharing of acquired professional experience and knowledge, thus contributing to professional development and increasing the openness and attractiveness of the diplomatic service.
WHO IS IT FOR?
Persons studying in Lithuanian higher education institutions as part of a study programme or in a doctoral programme.
Citizens of the Republic of Lithuania studying in higher education institutions of foreign countries.
WHEN? WHEN? WHERE?
Mentoring lasts from 2 to 6 months. The mentor and the mentee meet at least once a month.
A student wishing to become a mentee submits a free-form motivated application to the Personnel Management and Delegation Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs by e-mail, at least 4 weeks before the start of the unpaid mentoring, stating his/her name, e-mail address, the desired field and purpose of the unpaid mentoring. Together with the request, the student shall submit a certificate from the higher education institution certifying his/her studies at the higher education institution. The reply and other relevant information will be sent to the candidate by email within 10 working days.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Lithuania invites Master’s students or graduates who have completed their studies at least 1 year ago to participate in the Diplomatic Service Talent Programme and, in cooperation with experienced diplomats, to get to know the versatility and tasks of the diplomatic service, to get to know the profession of a diplomat, to take part in international networking activities, conferences, and meetings, to contribute to the solution of global problems, to improve their skills, to enhance their knowledge on the selected topics, and to gain useful work experience at the same time.
WHO IS IT FOR?
Citizens of the Republic of Lithuania;
who speak the official Lithuanian language;
currently enrolled in a Master’s degree programme (the selection is open to applicants who have completed their Bachelor’s or Master’s degree within 1 year of graduation);
have a university degree or equivalent;
have a minimum level of B2 advanced level of English;
meet the requirements laid down in the legislation of the Republic of Lithuania for the granting of a permit to work or to have access to classified information marked ‘secret’.
